Clipper Round the World yacht race
Clipper Race Yacht Club

Welcome to the CRYC

The Clipper Race Yacht Club was launched in April 2009 by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, its President. It has three Vice Presidents: Sir Keith Mills (Ariel ’98), Gordon Whiteley (Chrysolite ’96) and Jim Dick (Hull & Humber 07-08).

Membership is open to anyone who has competed in any part of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race; or has competed with Clipper in other races, such as the Rolex Fastnet or the Round Britain & Ireland; or has worked for Clipper Ventures.

The aim is to create an association of Clipper alumni to the mutual advantage of all parties and for the purpose of having fun!

Our activities

The crux of the CRYC is this password-protected members' website which, with e-newsletters, will drive all of our activities.

Most of the club's initiatives will come from members. Some will be social and others adventurous, such as weekends at sea or elsewhere. The activities will grow as the club matures – there will be no limits other than members' imaginations.

No subs for three years

For the initial period until April 2012 there will be a joining fee of £20 and no annual subscription – what a deal!

How to join

Click ’Join’ above and either join online, or download the form as a Word document or PDF and email it or post it back to us.

Alternatively, you can join at the Clipper office in Gosport. Please see Janice Beesley.

You can pay your joining fee by posting a cheque to the address on the joining form, or by credit or debit card using the PayPal link on the ’Join’ page.

‘Tartan Socks’ in May 2013

Two days off Bute and Arran, about £275 a head  01/12/2012

The Kyles of Bute – looks like a pretty fine place to go sailing, no?

Like Red Socks, but with a kilt on. That is what we are planning to for May 2013 with a bunch of like-minded souls who want to see a bit of the west coast of Scotland, experience some stunning scenery and take on some minor navigational challenges! This event is open to all CRYC members. We need to gauge the level of interest in order to come back with a firm plan and likely costs, so please get in touch as soon as possible to express an interest.
